Porto is located in northern Portugal on the north side of the river Douro. The city of granite is a very hilly old gray town with welcoming people and traditions.
Porto comes from the world famous Port wine, Porto has to be on 23 to 24th June for the craziest festival in Europe, São João (Saint John). Here is one of the most beautiful library in the world and here will cost you is like one of the tasty snacks and the world that Francesinha.
To Porto, there is also the beaches between Porto and Espinho and north up to Povoa, we will also visit Vila do Conde and the Port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Around Porto

In Trip to Portugal you’ll find in the surroundings of Porto cities like Póvoa de Varzim about 20 km north of Porto or Espinho 22km south of Porto, reachable with the Metro. The communities east of Valongo, Gondomar and the river Douro to Melres are also included.

Povoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde and the coast up to Porto has lovely beaches but most of all is a fishing area with fishing villages such as Angeiras, where you can eat good, inexpensive fresh fish every day (except Monday). Póvoa de Varzim is also known for the casino and together with the 5 km next Vila do Conde a traditional summer holiday for many people from Porto.

Although the Atlantic is rather cold here and you might have gushes of wind, the beaches are very good. Especially recommended are the beaches of Mindelo and those between Labruge and Matosinhos, all with the Blue Flag.

Arriving in Porto

Porto Airport has a small but modern airport. The airport is located 10km away from the center of Porto. There is a metro line (line E) from the airport to the center of Porto for a fare is 1.50€ and the journey takes about 25 minutes.
