Pope visits Portugal

May 9, 2010 in Portuguese News

If you are now in Portugal, you might be interested in knowing that Pope Benedikt XVI is visiting the country between the 11th and the 14th of May.
This may affect your visit to Portugal. Just in case so that you know were you can or cannot be, here is his travel plan through Portugal.
His trip will start in Lisbon, which means that the day before, the 10th of May traffic will be forbidden around the Nunciatura and in many streets in Lisbon. On the 12th of May the city will close doors. Leaving you with few shops open (if some)! Even buses and the metro will stop on defined periods. On the 13th it’ll be Fatima that will on the spot and on the 14th the Pope will be in Porto. The city will also stop, having most of the centre closed to traffic as well as the way he’ll take into the airport, as he will be leaving from Porto.
So if you’ll be in either of the cities getting ready, say to catch your plane home, if not the ashclouds then maybe the Pope will prevent you from catching that plane! So make sure you go to the airport early enough!
